Hi everyone,
Please leave a message after the beep; everyone in the China-Israel deals channel is on vacation, taking it easy, saving deals and other news for a later date.
That said, we did have a few things this week, like Xiaomi opening a store in Tel Aviv, PointGrab selling in China, and President Xi’s right hand man reportedly in charge of the China side’s initiative to boost tech ties with Israel.
All that is very interesting of course, but given the relatively calm week, let’s take a look at July. Wow, July. No one was on vacation then. People were earning their vacations. The big story (i.e. big money) was Trax with it’s $125m round led by Boyu. Mantis also didn’t do too bad with a $55m round. AND we’ve got sports again. I’m telling you - sports. Sports is a thing.
Alsoooo, kind of a big deal: there’s a really big China-focused, global startup competition called "Are you China Ready?" taking applications as we speak until the end of the month (so get on it, startups). We’ll have more about this in a few days on LinkedIn and in next week’s newsletter, but here’s a helpful link to warm you up.
Enjoy the newsletter, and as always give me a shout with thoughts and questions, or just to say hello.
-Laura
